Our Story

2020 was a year to reflect, on where we are, what we value and where we want to be. For many, this experience has ignited a passion for the outdoors and a desire to live a more sustainable lifestyle. The impacts of what we consume have become front page news and have led people to be more conscious of their consumption, in every area of life.

Our mission at Let It Grow Landscape is two-fold. First, to offer a sustainable alternative to traditional lawn care. Second, to empower people to grow their own food, at any scale. There is no greater satisfaction than harvesting a homegrown fruit or vegetable! Let us help you find out!

About the Owner - Stevie Schimoler

Born and raised around food, Stevie was born into the restaurant world. Growing up in rural Waterbury, VT provided an opportunity to experience the great outdoors and the joys of a home garden at a young age. Stevie was also lucky to be exposed to Vermont’s burgeoning “Farm to Table” movement of the late 1990’s. This connection to food, and where and how it is grown, started a life long passion. This passion resulted in working for Pete Johnson at Pete’s Greens Organic Vegetable Farm, a pioneer in local food production and someone dedicated to developing sustainable communities.

As a young child, Stevie’s father spent many years in research and product development. Stevie spent his early years as a “guinea pig” and test taster which helped him develop a very keen appreciation for flavors. There is no greater joy than enjoying the fruits of ones labor, a fresh from the garden fruit or vegetable picked at peak ripeness.

As someone who has always valued food production and flavor experiences, tropical and exotic fruits present a unique adventure and challenge. Some flavors exist in nature that can only be experienced at certain places and times. There are no substitutes to tree ripened fruit. Often, the best fruits do not transport well, resulting in subpar flavor and a very poor representation of a fruit’s true self. Sometimes, the only option is to travel around the globe… OR try and grow your own!

Stevie moved to Southgate, Sarasota in 2017 and has been worked locally since then. He enjoyed working two years in the produce department at the sorely missed Lucky’s Market. When not tending to his own tropical fruit collection, he can be found serving tables at locally owned Baker & Wife Restaurant.

“The one who plants trees, knowing that they will never sit in their shade, has at least started to understand the meaning of life.”

— Rabindranath Tagore
